December Favorites

We’re just about halfway through January and I’m just now getting around to posting my December favorites but you’ll forgive me right? I was really loving beauty products in December and wanted to put this post together because these are some of the best products I’ve ever used and you may discover a new favorite from this list.

1) EcoTools Pure Complexion Face Sponge – I don’t think sponge is the right description for this because it’s unlike any sponge I’ve ever felt before. It’s actually better known as a konjac sponge. When you first open the package it feels hard as a rock but after you get it wet it feels like a gel-like squishy texture. You wouldn’t think it had enough roughness to exfoliate the skin but it does. I use the sponge every morning in the shower with my Philosophy Purity cleanser. After you wash your face using the sponge it feels so soft. It’s such a unique and interesting product. I found mine at Target.

2) Rusk Sensories Smoother – I first discovered this anti-frizz leave-in conditioner at a new hair salon I went to. The stylist put it in my hair before blow drying and when she was done my hair was so soft and it actually had bounce to it. Of course I face the same struggle that most people do which is that I can never style my hair like the stylist does. I don’t get as much bounce but my hair is soft and less frizzy with this product. I love it!

3) Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser – I used to use Origins years ago and loved it but like most women I strayed away from the brand to try the gazillion other products that we are bombarded with in magazines and on television. My skin has not been in the greatest shape lately and I was looking for a new cleanser and moisturizer to try. That’s when I decided to go back to Origins. I’m so glad I did. This scrub cleanser is the bomb. If you’re not opposed to a strong citrus scent you will love it. I use this scrub every night and it leaves my skin feeling like a baby’s behind. I love the smell. When I’m done cleansing my skin I feel refreshed and energized. There’s something about it that puts me in a good mood. I love it so much that when my jumbo bottle of Philosophy’s Purity cleanser is empty I’m going to use this cleanser day and night.

4) Origins GinZing Energy-boosting Moisturizer – Naturally I wanted to pair the cleanser with the moisturizer and what a great combo they make. I use this moisturizer for day and night. It has a citrus smell like the cleanser and is lightweight and non-greasy. I’m loving it with my foundation. I have severely oily skin and I feel like it’s more balanced with this moisturizer. The last thing you want to do when you have really oily skin is use a product that adds more oil to your face. This moisturizer doesn’t do that. I like the moisturizer for night because I don’t wake up real greasy in the morning but right now that the weather is colder and dryer I’m thinking of getting Origin’s Night-A-Mins. I’d like something with a little more in it for when I’m sleeping.

5) Wet n Wild Take On The Day Eyeshadow Primer – This primer is part of the Fergie line for Wet n Wild. I was skeptical because I tried the BB cream and it was horrible. Absolutely no coverage at all. Anywho, we’re talking about the primer. This primer is amazing! In my October favorites I mentioned my love for the NARS smudge proof eyeshadow base. This was kind of my holy grail eyeshadow primer until I found this Wet n Wild one. I’m a frugal person most of the time and try my best to stay away from high-end makeup products. The NARS primer retails for $25. I got the Wet n Wild primer for $3.99 at my local Walgreens. It rivals the NARS primer. I have really oily eyelids and without a primer my eyeshadow will become this embarrassing creasy mess. The NARS primer would keep my eyeshadow in place all day long and so does the Wet n Wild one. My eyeshadow stays put. As long as this primer is available I will be using it.

To sum things up I wanted to say that I’m not sure if it’s just the Origins products, the konjac sponge or a combination of all but my skin is looking better than it’s looked in a while. Recently a coworker asked me what I was using on my skin. That is the question every woman wants to hear. It means something is going right. I have a lot of hyper-pigmentation from acne scars and I’ve seen a significant decrease in the appearance. I’m hoping that one day soon it will fade completely or almost completely. I’ve also needed to use less makeup since the discoloration has faded which is great because I’ve never been big on heavy makeup.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments what you’re loving and if you have suggestions for makeup, haircare or skincare products I’d love to hear them. I’m always looking for new products to try. It’s an addiction. LOL!

Valentine’s is approaching and I wanted to let you know that I have listed a few stencils in my Etsy Shop if you’re interested. I want to get some cookies baked so I can show what they look like put to use. My body has been hurting pretty bad this week so we’ll see what I can get done.
