Precious Moments

I don't have any cookie pics to post today but I am going to start working on some Valentine's Day designs real soon. I may even post my first tutorial. We'll see how it goes. In the meantime, I wanted to share one of the wonderful gifts I received for Christmas this year. Isn't this figurine so adorable? It is titled "Nothing's Sweeter Than Time Together". My husband could not have picked out a better present for me this year. He knows how obsessed I am with cookie decorating. I just love the Mickey's that are waiting to be decorated and the decorated ones are just perfect. This would … [Continue reading...]

Cakes, Cakes & More Cakes

Before I took some time off from baking to enjoy the holidays I made some cupcakes for a Christmas potluck at work. Here they are. I just love cupcakes! This week I got back in the kitchen and worked on three cakes. The first cake was for a friend's husband. I made my first giant cupcake using Wilton's giant cupcake pan. Unfortunately, I do not have any good photos to post but it came out okay. The next two cakes I made were for a mother & daughter whose birthday's were just days apart. The first was a small single layer 6" cake. I decorated it using a leopard print technique that I … [Continue reading...]

Christmas Cookies

This set of Christmas cookies was made for a friend of mine to give to her co-workers. I was allowed to come up with whatever design I wanted and this is what I came up with. I was very pleased with how they turned out. I'll be busy with other projects so these will probably be my only Christmas designs this year. Some of my favorite cookiers have posted Christmas designs that I found to be so inspiring but I will not get to try them out. There's always next year. It's hard to see in the picture but I used Wilton's Color Mist Food Spray in pearl to give the snowflakes a shimmery look. For a … [Continue reading...]

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my father's birthday. He is a very big fan of Harry Potter so I wanted to surprise him by making cookies for him. He's probably the oldest Harry Potter fan out there. Lol! Just kidding. Growing up I wasn't always the best kid and I'm sure I gave my parents some grief but now that I'm grown I can look back at all that my parents did for us and I truly appreciate them both. Dad I hope I made your day special. I love you! Make every day a sweet day!!! … [Continue reading...]

A Very Special Anniversary

I'm a little late posting this but December 5th was my 2nd wedding anniversary. You might think this cake was for us but it was not. One of my best friends asked me to make a cake for her husband's grandparents who were celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. When I heard that their anniversary was also on December 5th I said yes I'll make them a cake. Her only request was that it have flowers on it. Overall, I was pleased with how the cake came out and they loved it. I love that I share an anniversary with a couple that have been together for 63 years. Make every day a sweet day!!! … [Continue reading...]

Thanksgiving 2011

This year for Thanksgiving I wanted to do something different from the standard pumpkin pie. Of course, I wanted to make some decorated cookies. I decided to go with a simple fall theme of sunflowers, leaves and acorns. The inspiration came from SweetSugarBelle. I love how they came out. I wanted to try making cupcakes in a jar. I'm not quite sure where this idea originated from but I first saw it done by Glorious Treats. The cupcakes are a pumpkin spice cupcake and the icing is caramel flavored buttercream. Very delicious. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I just love … [Continue reading...]

Red & White Rose Swirl Cake aka Queen of Hearts Cake

This cake is becoming quite a favorite amongst my family & friends. I"m starting to get several requests for it. This time instead of making the cake all one color my friend requested red & white roses. I love how it turned out but let me say that red is not the easiest color to make. Also, it was very challenging to alternate the colors without ending up with two roses of the same color next to each other. I guess I'm just picky. My friend loved the cake and so did her mother-in-law who the cake was for. I'm officially going to call this cake my Queen of Hearts cake since I love Alice … [Continue reading...]

50’s Birthday Party

I made these cookies for my co-worker to celebrate her mother's 60th birthday. When I was asked if I could do 50's themed cookies my first thought was oh no. After searching the internet for ideas I could not find many cookies that had been done in a 50's theme. The best 50's cookies I found were made by SweetSugarBelle. She was the inspiration behind this set. I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. Since my co-worker is into scrapbooking I wanted to try making custom cookie tags. It was my first time making them and I think they really added a nice touch. Make every day a sweet … [Continue reading...]
