Last year I made a card for my dad using a stencil I made that says “One Cool Pop”. When I made the stencil my original intention was to make cookies to go along with it. For reasons that I can’t remember now I didn’t make the cookies and instead threw a quick card together. You can see the card here.
This year I knew that I wanted to get the cookies made and I did.
To make the cookies I used a bottle cookie cutter and trimmed it.
I outlined the cookies and let the outline dry completely before flooding.
I flooded one side first and added a wet on wet highlight. Then I added sanding sugar to give the cookie a frozen look.
I let this side dry before I flooded and sugared the other side.
Once the cookies were completely dry I added popsicle sticks to the back with a little piping consistency icing. I made the mistake of buying full size popsicle sticks and had to cut them in half. I should have bought the mini sticks that I saw instead.
I stenciled the plaque cookie with some piping consistency icing, added a border and the set was complete.
Here’s a video where you can see a quick run down of the process.
