Easter Goodie Bag

I know I’ve been extremely absent from the blog with the exception of a Slice of Life post here & there as well as a random post on occassion. I’m trying my best to get back to a schedule of posting more regularly. For those that are still following and sticking with me I really appreciate it.

When I lost my dog in December it hit me like a freight train. First, her illness that started the first day of November literally came out of nowhere. There were no signs that anything was wrong. She literally went from normal to very sick overnight. Then dealing  with her leukemia diagnosis and chemo treatments took it’s toll on me both physically and mentally. I haven’t had to deal with death in my immediate family for a number of years and it hit me hard. It was a great loss but I’m in a better place now except for a bad day here and there. I know I don’t have to explain why I’ve been absent but it’s part of the therapeutic process to get it out. I feel like readers of the blog are part of my family and I can be open and honest here.

Okay enough of the deep stuff. I’m going to slowly get back to posting recipes and tutorials since my wrist is starting to feel better. In case you didn’t know I’ve been having issues again after my last injection wore off. Acupuncture seems to be helping and I’m hopeful. Crafting is easier for me to do right now so I combined my love of crafts with my love of sweets and made these cute Easter goodie bags using Lawn Fawn’s goodie bag die.

I’m a huge fan of Lawn Fawn. This is not a sponsored post. I just love their dies & stamps. Their newest release had so many awesome products that I kind of went a little order happy. Don’t be surprised if you see a few more projects coming up using their stuff.

I filled mine with jelly beans because what’s better than jelly beans? Maybe M&M’s? Yes peanut butter M&M’s would be great or any other candy you prefer.

I’ll have a list of the supplies down below but instead of taking step by step pics I decided it was easier to film a video. I love making videos but boy oh boy do they take time to edit. The quality isn’t the best because I was losing daylight the day I filmed but that’s okay. It’s more about seeing the process and hopefully inspiring you to get creative.

I made two versions. One with a window and one without. I’m not going to lie these are a bit time consuming so I wouldn’t suggest making them for a large group unless you have the time but they would be perfect for a small group. The ones without the window were put together a lot faster.

I realize that not everyone is going to have stamps and dies if they are not an avid crafter or stamper but that’s okay. You may be inspired to start the obsession like me. Lol! If I can get to all the ideas I’d like to post then hopefully you’ll see other ways to craft with supplies you have around your home.

Here’s the video:

I am so sorry to hear about your beloved cat! We lost our amazing cat, Solstice, due to kidney failure about 2 years ago. I had him for over 15 years including the entire lifetime of my teen daughter, and he slept near (or on) me every night. He followed us from room to room throughout the house, just to be near (or on) me, day or night. Because I am often trapped in bed or unable to do much physical, I became his most cherished bed, and he always had some part of himself, even if it was just a paw or flicking tail tip, on or touching me. Plus, he purred like crazy if you even glanced his way, much less gave him attention or a treat.

The loss is heart wrenching, and I feel your pain. Most people don’t realize how physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially taxing it can be to have a seriously ill pet. I treated my cat with subcutaneous I.v. fluids for the last six months, as well as his upset tummy. Luckily his quality of life was great right up until we had to let him go. I had to really focus on not feeling guilty afterwards, because it was such a relief not to constantly be worrying or taking care of him. Losing him left a hole in my heart, and for a long time I could not even think about him without choking up. Even to this day I will sometimes see a movement or shadow on the edge of my vision, and think it’s him. Who knows? Maybe it is, at least in spirit.

We saved a pinch of his ashes in two tiny silver boxes that we can wear on a ribbon whenever we miss him. I only meant to write a few sentences, but our pets are bigger than life in our hearts. I don’t want to bum you out, but to remind you that it won’t always hurt this much. I promise you, it will get better. Sooner than you expect the grief will start to edge off, leaving nothing behind but the love you shared. You will always think back on the funny stories or snuggling moments, and soon enough they will bring a smile to your face again. I like to think Solstice is somewhere over the rainbow bridge, frolicking in the Summerland, and watching over us.

If there is ever anything I can help you with, or you just want to talk cats or cookies, feel free to get in touch.
