Pizza Cookies & A New Year

I’m sorry for my absence from the blog. If you’ve read my last post then you know that we just lost one of our dogs, Zoe, to cancer. It has only been two and a half weeks so I’m still out of sorts. I’m slowly trying to come out of the fog that I’ve been in. Truthfully blogging and my Etsy shop have been the last things on my mind. I have a few Valentine’s Day stencil designs I’ve created but I’m not going to list them until I get back from vacation. We’ll be visiting my parents next week. It’s a trip that I’ve been longing for. Work has been so stressful the last six months. Then the last two months were highly stressful with Zoe’s illness. I think it will be great for the hubby and I to get away with our other dog Pepper. Our house just hasn’t been the same with Zoe gone.

The day before Zoe passed I had completed some cookies for a friend but naturally I never got around to posting them. Today seemed like a good day to show them to you. After all it’s the last day of 2014 and these are the last cookies I made this year.

As if life wasn’t crazy enough at the time I made these, I misplaced my camera charger the day I took pics of the cookies. I searched high and low and couldn’t find it. Talk about a blogger nightmare and a fail. I set up the cookies, turned on my camera and was only able to get about eight shots in before it died. I’m sad that I wasn’t able to get some better pics but it is what it is.

I followed Sweetsugarbelle’s tutorial to make the cookies. I’m still trying to master the whole 20 second icing thing but I’m quite pleased with how they turned out. I had never made pizza cookies before and they were real fun to do. If you haven’t made some yet I highly suggest you do. The great thing about them is that they don’t have to be super precise and you can customize them with whatever toppings suit your fancy. I’m just so happy that Callye has such wonderful tutorials on her blog. Whenever I’m in need of guidance for cookie designs I turn to her blog for help.

Speaking of cookie designs. It’s time for me to get back to making cookies more regularly on here. After all that’s why I started blogging in the first place. I’d love to do more tutorials in the new year. I’m also thinking of making videos again. Is this something y’all would be interested in? Do you like seeing videos or picture tutorials? Let me know. Also if you have suggestions of designs you’d like to see please send an email to simplysweetsbyhoneybee@yahoo.com. If you sent me an email recently that I did not respond to please send it again. I’m behind on replying to emails and it’s lost in the shuffle by now.

I still want to post other things besides cookies because I love creating and have many interests but you’ll be seeing a lot more cookies for sure.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy New Year! May the new year bring you peace, prosperity, good health and plenty of happiness.

To all my loyal subscribers thank you. Thank you for making 2014 a great year. Without you I would be talking to the wind. I appreciate everyone that takes the time to leave comments. They mean more to me than you’ll ever know. See you in 2015!

  1. I am so sorry to hear about Zoe. It is hard to lose a furry friend. I love your blog. I think videos help when the cookie is more complicated. If it is an easy one than a picture is good. Happy New Year!

  2. Melissa, I am so sorry about Zoe. I have not had a pet in such a long time, the pain was so awful. They are your kids or best buddies when you are a kid. That they have paws doe not matter. Heal your heart at your pace, wishing you a grand 2015!

  3. Melissa, I am sorry about Zoe! I have a 14 year old Schnauzer and know that our days are getting fewer with her everyday.
I myself haven’t made cookies in a long time because my parents moved in with us 7 months ago so that I could help my dad take care of my mother. I had it set in my head that I WAS GOING TO MAKE CHRISTMAS COOKIES , NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TOOK!!
Well, my mom’s health started going downhill again around Dec. 4th, ended up in the hospital on Dec. 11th, thought she was getting better, but we lost her on Dec.17th. So with no Christmas shopping being done, preparing for 2 memorial services (one at home and one out of town for my mom’s side of the family), grieving, trying to have Christmas, traveling…..well, you get the picture. No cookies were made. Only cookie cutters bought!! (((Addiction))) I need to join CCA (cookie cutters anonymous).

Hoping to make cookies soon!!! And hope to see more blogs from you!!!
