Slice of Life Sundays: 11-9-14

slice-of-life-sundays

Hello friends. Hope you’re enjoying your weekend. A cold front blew in and we’re enjoying some beautiful weather. The hubby and I are headed to the Renaissance Festival today but before I go I wanted to share some of my hauls from this weekend’s shopping. I normally don’t do this much damage but I was in need of some new face and hair products.

face products

First up is my haul from Target. I have extremely oily skin and was looking for a toner that would help combat the oil. I found this toner from Boot’s that’s mattifying. We’ll see if it works. If so it may end up on my November favorites. I spotted this cute dispenser pump and picked it up to put the toner in. This way I can just put my cotton round on the pump and get the product quickly and easily. Finally I’ve heard a lot of great things about Konjac facial sponges. I spotted this one from Eco Tools and decided to give it a try. It’s supposed to get really soft when wet and be gentle enough to use morning and night.

hair products

Next up I purchased the Herbal Essences Naked Moisture Conditioner. I already use the shampoo and really love it. I tend to stay away from conditioners because I have oily and very fine hair and conditioners that I’ve used in the past have really weighed my hair down. I decided to give the conditioner a try because I love the shampoo so much and my hair has been having a lot of fly aways lately. I’m going to use it sparingly just on the ends. I’m giving the Dove hairspray a try because one of my favorite YouTubers missglamorazzi uses it. I’ve been a long time user of Bed Head’s Masterpiece Massive Shine Hairspray and totally love it. It holds great and smells amazing but I’m tired of paying $20 for a hairspray. I’ve been looking for cheaper alternatives. I tried one from Tresemme and did not like the smell at all.

cookie cutters

My final purchase at Target was these great Christmas cookie cutters. I really love the shape of the gingerbread man. The snowflake is similar to ones that I already have but I decided to grab it anyway just in case it’s a little different. I also love the shape of the tree. That one I know for sure is different from the other trees I own. The fox is just too adorable for words. I think I own one other fox cutter but it’s not as cute as this one. I’m excited to use it. The angel cutter is totally adorable. I don’t own an angel cutter like this one. I just love it!

My final purchases were from Ulta. The EOS Coconut Milk lip balm is the bomb. It reminds me of these coconut popsicles I used to eat as a kid. Yummy! As mentioned before I have really fine hair. I’ve tried so many products for volume and most work well when I first use them but over time they start to not work as well. I constantly have to keep my hair guessing and switch up products. Right now I’ve been using the KMS Add Volume Volumizing Spray and it works great. However after several hours my hair will begin to go flat. I recently saw this video and totally loved how her hair looks. Unfortunately, the V05 products she uses are only available in the UK so I wanted to find a volumizing powder to try that was reasonably priced. I found the Psssst! one for $6.99. I was unable to find the Toni & Guy Rough Texturiser. It may be a UK item too. I found this KMS playable texture spray instead. Hopefully it’s good.

That’s it folks. I spent way too much money this weekend. I gotta cool my jets the rest of this month. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I was supposed to bake for a blog post but didn’t get to. I do plan on starting back up with more regular cookie posts and tutorials. I’ve been through a really rough patch health wise and work wise and needed some time to take it easy. With my favorite time of year upon us I need to get back into the swing of things. After all my blog is called Simply Sweets by Honeybee. There certainly needs to be more sweets.
