Slice of Life Sundays: 11-30-14

slice-of-life-sundays

It’s the last day of November. Wow! Christmas is knocking on the door. I see several of my neighbors spending hours and hours decorating their houses and all I can think is “do they realize that in 25 days it’s over and then they have to take this all down?”. I know it’s totally Scrooge of me but I guess I’ve lost my Christmas spirit over the years. I really need to get it back. We used to decorate our house but the last three years we haven’t. We’ve only done a little decorating inside the house. This year I had plans to try and decorate but with everything going on with my dog Zoe I’m just not in the mood. I think we’ll put up a mini tree and our stockings and call it a day.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. We kept it low key this year. It was just my husband, me and the girls. We didn’t feel like having company or going to anyone’s house. I’ve really enjoyed having a four day weekend. It saddens me that today is the last day of this glorious time off. Two of my co-workers have been out with surgeries in the last 5 months. Work has been so stressful and busy that any time off is a breath of fresh air. Next week another co-worker is going out for surgery and I’m her backup so yet again it will be craziness for a few weeks. Please forgive my lack of content posts these last few months. I’m doing the best I can. My brain is full of ideas for Christmas. I just need to get them done.

You may or may not have noticed that my navigation bar changed a bit. Now you can see a link that says shop.

I’m so excited to announce that I have re-opened my Etsy shop but with a new name. I used to sell key fobs under the name Sweet Honey Beez but now I’m selling stencils for cookie decorating and crafting under the name Simply Sweet Stencils. The shop link on my navigation bar will show you a few of the items in my shop and has a link for you to visit the shop on Etsy to see the rest. I plan on adding new designs regularly so be sure to favorite the shop and check back often. I currently have a sale going on which ends tonight at midnight where you can save 15% off with the coupon code GOBBLE15. It’s a scary new venture because there are others out there who sell stencils and I was afraid to be in competition with them but I don’t look at it as competition. I look at it more as sharing a different style. Some stencils will be similar to others like certain patterns but it is my goal to offer designs that are in a style that I prefer for cookie decorating and hopefully people will see the vision I have.

My Slice of Life post did not go out on Mad Mimi last week for some reason. So if you’d like to read about what is going on with our dog Zoe you can read that here. Quick update on her. She had her second chemo treatment this week and did well. She’s still eating good, wagging her tail and seems happy. She’s not as high energy as last week but we don’t see any signs that she’s hurting. The only thing we’ve noticed is that she’s reverse sneezing a lot. Not a lot as in non-stop but several times a day. This may be a side effect of the particular chemo she had. I’m going to call the vet tomorrow morning and find out. She has reverse sneezed throughout her life so it’s not something that she’s never done but it was only on a rare occasion and not daily like it’s been now. All we can do is take it week by week with her. I sure have enjoyed having her with us the last two weeks and seeing her act like her old self. Thank you again to all those keeping us and Zoe in your prayers. We love and appreciate you all.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and may you have a blessed week 馃檪

  1. Still praying for Zoe!! And sending lots of hugs your way. I am still debating putting up the full tree this year too. I saw this mini 2-3 foot tall real trees at the grocery for only $25 so I think I might splurge on that!
