Slice of Life Sundays: 9-28-14

slice-of-life-sundays

This is our last Sunday of September. Can you believe it? This year is just flying by. I was at Michaels craft store yesterday and they already had Christmas stuff out right next to the Halloween stuff. It’s getting ridiculous how early retailers are displaying their Christmas stuff. It’s almost like a competition to see who does it first.

I picked up a few Americana Decor Chalky Finish paints since they were on sale for 30% off. I’m anxious to give them a try. I got the colors delicate, relic, yesteryear and everlasting. I already have the color vintage but haven’t used it yet. I also picked up a container of the soft-touch varnish since my friend Kim swears by it. My goal is to use these paints in some way to make homemade gifts for friends and family. I think homemade gifts are much more thoughtful than something bought.

Did you watch the return of Scandal Thursday? O-M-G! It was so good. I just absolutely love this show. I can’t get enough of it! I’m team Jake all the way but that dang Fitz is going to weasel his way back in to Olivia’s life. They have this magnetic connection that can’t seem to be stopped.

How about the new show How to Get Away with Murder? That one was a double O-M-G! I’m so excited about this show. Viola Davis is brilliant to say the least. She’s confident, arrogant, mysterious and scary all at the same time. If you didn’t watch it I highly recommend that you do and set your DVR to record the rest of the season.

Season two of Resurrection premieres tonight on ABC at 9/8c. Last season was amazing. I had chills when I watched it. There’s something so mysterious about it. You’re left wondering if the resurrections are an act of God, a miracle if you will, or something entirely unexpected like aliens. I’m anxious to find out what kind of answers we get from this season.

Revenge also returns tonight on ABC at 10/9c. I’m still so mad about what happened to Aidan. It was supposed to be Emily and Aidan happily ever after and that dang Victoria Grayson shattered that. The season ended with Victoria in a psychiatric hospital and Conrad lying on the ground bleeding from a stab wound by David Clark who was believed to be dead. Is Conrad dead? Is there any chance my Aidan is not dead? Will Victoria come for Emily? Will David find his daughter? I can’t wait to find out these answers.

Things are going well with the Advocare 24 Day Challenge I’m doing. Today will complete the cleanse phase and tomorrow I start the max phase. I’ve done surprisingly well at avoiding sweets on the program. I thought it was going to be hard but it’s been fairly easy to resist. I’ve seen great results already. My clothes are not as tight and I feel better.

I do see things out in blog land that make me have a small thought about cheating like these Caramel Apple Pecan Bars by Call Me PMC. Also these Maple-Bacon Waffles by Recipe Girl and these Bacon-Wrapped Cheesy Stuffed Jalapeños by Sally’s Baking Addiction.

On a healthier note these {Healthy + Flourless} Almond Apple Muffins by Chelsea’s Messy Apron caught my eye as well as these Carrot Cake Bites by Luv a Bargain.

In cookie land I’m totally loving these Xanadu Cookies by Bake at 350. OMG do you remember this movie? I think some people are not fans of it but I loved it. I think I need to watch it again soon. I’m also loving these Decorated Cherry Jam Cookies by LilaLoa. Not only are they stunning but they were made for a very great cause.

Quite a bit I wanted to talk about today. Hope you’re still with me. In case you missed it this week I shared a round-up of Sweet Halloween Ideas. It’s like some of my best work. Not that I’m bragging or anything but since I haven’t been able to make cookies as much as I’d like to I have to look back at older posts and pat myself on the back for what I was able to come up with. I hope to get that mojo back.

Enjoy your week my friends. I”ll be up to my ears in paperwork at work this week but I’ll pop in Tuesday for a new Party in Your PJs link party. See you then!
