Sending Love Card

Happy Monday friends. Hope y’all had a great Fourth of July. Things were pretty uneventful for us. We like to stay home because our dogs don’t do too well with the fireworks. They have Thundershirts which help a lot but they are not a cure. They still get rattled by the extremely loud fireworks as do I. I’ll never get used to the sound. It’s like bombs going off right over our roof.

The rest of the weekend we just relaxed as much as possible. Work last week was crazy so any chance I get to just veg out and relax I do. Anywho, enough about my weekend. I’d like to show you the sending love card that I made for a dear friend of mine who is going through a rough time. I wanted to send her a card to let her know that I was thinking of her and sending her love.

As I’m still pretty new to stamping I try to explore different techniques with each card I make. This card originally started as a one layer card but I totally messed up my masking and ink got on parts of the card that it wasn’t supposed to. Instead of trashing the card, after all my hard work coloring it, I decided to cut out the colored image and put in on new base. I chose a craft card stock to go with the earth tones of the flowers.

I was really pleased with how it came out and how I salvaged my mess up. The image was made by stamping the flowers & masking them and then stamping the leaves. I colored the flowers and leaves with copic markers and then masked them so I could color the background with distress ink. I finished the card聽with some clear rhinestones and a little clear Wink of Stella on the flower centers. You totally can’t see the glitter in the picture but it was there.

I still have some other cards I’ve made recently to share. I’m trying to space them out so that I’m not sharing too many card posts back to back. I’m thinking of doing future cards with pics of the process. Is this something y’all would like to see?

  2. Mistakes??? Lovely card, thanks for the confessions, makes us feel better about our attempts out here in the blog reader world!!!

    • Thanks Shelly. If only you knew the amount of mistakes I make on projects. I try to keep it real as much as possible. I love aesthetics and try to present my work in a good light but there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that is a hot mess. LOL! I will point out flaws now and then or at least verbalize them. We’re always our own worst critics.
