I was thrilled when Michelle of Make Me Cake Me, Hani of Haniela’s & Mike of Semi Sweet invited me to be a part of a virtual baby shower for Sweet Sugarbelle {Callye} & LilaLoa {Georganne}.
If you’re not familiar with Callye & Georganne then you’re likely new to cookies. In the cookie world they are known as cookie royalty. They are idols to so many with their innovative designs, endless creativity and willingness to share their knowledge of all things cookie. What better way to celebrate the birth of their daughters than with a royal baby shower? What makes this shower so special is that Callye & Georganne had their baby girls on the same day. I don’t think any of us involved in the shower would have guessed that was going to happen. It’s like the stars were in alignment that day and two sugar babies were born. That’s what many in the cookie community have been calling them. Congratulations Callye & Georganne! I’m so thrilled for you both. Your daughters will forever be connected to each other and that is so special.
I decided that your daughters must have amazing shoes fit for royalty. They had to be golden and have some bling and pizzazz.
To make these baby shoe cookies you will need:
- an egg shape cutter {mine is a coated metal one from a Wilton set}
- #2 tip
- # 17 star tip
- gold piping & flood icing
- gold stiff icing
- flesh flood icing
- dragees
- gold luster dust {optional-mine didn’t really show up in the pictures}
Begin by marking your cookies with a food safe marker of where you want the opening to be. You could make a template or just freehand it like I did.
Then, outline the cookies using a #2 tip. You can either allow the outline to dry before flooding or flood right away. Once you flood the cookies immediately drop in the dragees in a flower shape.
Allow the cookies to dry and then fill the inner section with the flesh colored flood icing. After this step has dried outline around the flesh color with gold piping icing and pipe flowers on the front of the shoe using a # 17 tip with the stiffer gold icing. You can see how these flowers are made here.
As an optional step you can brush the cookies with gold luster dust. I dry brushed luster dust onto mine but you can’t really tell it’s there in the photo. If you really want a gold color then you could airbrush gold on with gold sheen or brush luster dust on wet. For help with adding gold to cookies with luster dust visit this post.

Thanks Michelle! That’s exactly what I wanted and I’m glad you see my vision. I’ve beat myself up time and time again trying to do ornate cookies and have decided that clean and simple is the way to go. No need to change what I’m doing. 🙂
