Slice of Life Sundays: 2-16-14

slice-of-life-sundays

Hello my lovelies. Did you have a nice Valentine’s Day? I did. My husband and I like to stay home and avoid crowds. We ordered take-out and just enjoyed a quiet evening at home. He bought me the most amazing orchid called a mystic orchid.

I made chocolate covered strawberries for us to share along with a few pretzel rods. Sorry the only pic I have is crappy but they were really tasty.

I’ve been caught up watching the Olympics. My favorite Olympics are always the winter ones. I enjoy watching quite a few of the events, especially ice skating. During the summer games I pretty much only watch gymnastics, swimming and diving. So aside from work and a cake order my week has consisted of watching the winter games and also Sons of Anarchy. I never watched the show and decided to check it out. I got hooked right away and I’m watching it every chance I get so I can be on track for the start of season 7. I’m about to start season 6. The anticipation is killing me because so many people I know are telling me that they are dying for me to get caught up so they can hear my thoughts. I know this means something big is going to happen. I can’t watch the episodes fast enough.

The Walking Dead started back up last Sunday and I’m so excited. It’s one of my favorite shows. The first episode concentrated a lot on Carl and well let’s just say I’m ready for him to be zombie food. He irritates me to no end.

Inspiration Challenge: Love

There’s still time for you to link up your love projects. The link party runs through the 28th. The next challenge will be “The Sky”. I’m not going to lie this one has my mind spinning. I’m having a hard time deciding what I’m going to do.

Stenciled Valentine’s Cookies

There’s a video tutorial on this post of how I like to use stencils on cookies with an airbrush.

Before I go let’s talk dinners. I tried hard to get some home cooked meals in this week. Here’s what I made.

Slow Cooker Pepperoni and Chicken

I really loved this recipe and so did the hubs. It was easy to make and very flavorful. I would definitely make this one again.

Weight Watchers Friendly Tortellini Soup

This soup was wonderful. It’s quick and easy which is a plus. It was a little too peppery and garlicy for my taste so the next time I make it I will use less garlic and pepper in the recipe. Other than that it’s a winner.

Slow Cooker Pork Carnitas

All I have to say is yum-o! I totally loved this recipe and so did the hubs. We had it for dinner two nights in a row and he had some for lunch one day. He said it was really good on a roll as a sandwich. I think next time I make this I will serve it as sandwiches because I’m always looking for excuses to eat bread. Lol! Bread is a total weakness of mine.

That’s all folks! Have a wonderful week. Remember to make time to do things that you love and not get caught up in the mundane. We’ll chat again soon.

P.S. Let me know what you’ve been up to and if you’ve come across any good recipes. I always love hearing from you.

  1. I have not yet watched Sons of Anarchy. I am very bad about tv shows. I get hooked fast but once there is a break- I get bored and lose interest. lol. BTW- your love cookies were my favorite valentine’s cookies! There were truly my favorite out of all of the ones I saw out there- the colors, the flowers, the detail work. So many talented elements combined in one cookie set!
