Slice of Life Sundays: 12-29-13

slice-of-life-sundays

Happy Sunday friends. I didn’t do a post last Sunday because I had too much going on. I attended my husband’s Christmas party and had a really nice time. I’m still trying to come to grips with how fast this year is going by. We are done with Christmas and a new year is right around the corner. This is my last Slice of Life Sundays post of 2013.

I wanted to make some cookies for New Year’s Eve but it’s not going to happen this year. I just don’t have the time right now to work on any cookies. I need 2013 to end and 2014 to begin so that I can feel like a fresh start has begun.

If you keep up with these Sunday posts then you know that I’ve been on a journey recently with my dog Pepper and her health. We’re still on that journey. We’re trying to find the right course of action to take with her diet and medicine that will give her the longest life possible. The specialist we saw has discussed a possible surgery to remove the bladder stone she has. We are still debating that because anesthesia can put a lot of stress on the kidneys and with hers not functioning at 100% we are afraid to take the risk if there’s no guarantee that the surgery will help her at all.

I’ve been nursing a stress fracture in my foot. I’m happy to say that it’s feeling much better. I can put full weight on it with very little pain. Some days if I do too much walking on it then it will hurt but overall I think it’s almost fully healed. Great news for sure.

My television watching has consisted of clearing out my DVR. I’ve been catching up on shows like Hostages, Nashville and The Real Housewives of Atlanta. I forgot how much I enjoy the Atlanta Housewives. There is nothing like watching tons of crazy to make your life seem absolutely normal. The holiday break is over and my favorite shows will be coming back on soon. I can’t wait!

That’s it for this week. I’d love to hear what you’ve been up. I’d also love to hear how you are celebrating New Year’s. My dogs freak out with fireworks so our New Year’s always consists of chilling at home with the girls and trying to keep them calm. I have to live vicariously through others.

Before I go I do want to mention that if you have dogs that are scared of fireworks you may want to try a ThunderShirt. We tried them last year and they helped a lot. I’m anxious to see if they help this year as well. I’m not sponsored in any way by them and my opinion is solely my own. I just wanted to pass along that they helped us.

Have a great week y’all!

  1. I don’t have a dog anymore but growing up we always did and I used to dread the fireworks on New Years and Fourth of July, because of them. I had never heard of the ThunderShirt but it sounds fantastic! Anything that helps is a dream. I always felt so bad for them.

Have a happy, healthy, and safe New Year! Thanks for a fantastic blog and looking forward to your posts in 2014.
