Geeky Girl Owl Cookies

Welcome back. If you saw yesterday’s Geeky Baby Shower for Jennifer of Not Your Momma’s Cookie then you know that I told you I’d be back today with a tutorial on how I made the geeky girl owl.

To make geeky girl owl cookies you will need:

  • large round cookie cutter (optional)
  • small round cookie cutter
  • food coloring pen in any color (it will get covered)
  • dark pink piping & flood icing
  • light pink piping & flood icing
  • white piping & flood icing
  • yellow piping & flood icing
  • black piping icing
  • black candy beads

First of all, if you would like to purchase the cookie cutter that I had made for this project then please visit Truly Mad Plastics.

Ok let’s begin. This step is totally optional but you can use a large round cookie cutter & food coloring pen to help you draw the lines of where the wings will go.

Using dark pink piping icing outline the cookie.聽Allow the outline to dry & then flood with dark pink flood icing. Let the cookie dry for a few hours.

Then,聽fill the wings with light pink flood icing. Immediately put polka dots on the wings with dark pink flood icing (wet on wet technique). Let the cookie dry completely. Next, put the glasses on using black piping icing.

Then, using light pink piping icing pipe the bow and fill in the center. My piping icing is the consistency of pudding so it allows me some time to use a toothpick or scribe to flatten any peaks that may form. Allow these steps to dry and then use a small circle cutter to outline where the eyes will go. Add the beak with yellow piping icing and outline the eyes with white piping icing.

Fill in the eyes with white flood icing then immediately add yellow with flood icing and drop in candy beads. Then fill in the rest of the bow with pink flood icing.

Finish up by adding any extra details like outlining the bow and wings.

That’s it. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
