Sunday I mentioned that I had exciting news to share. Well we’re back! Or I should say Inspiration Challenges are back! Stephanie of Ellie’s Bites Decorated Cookies and myself got to talking about how much we missed our challenges. They gave us something to look forward to each month and motivated us to want to create more.
This time around we wanted to challenge ourselves to create not only decorated cookies but cakes, cupcakes, recipes and crafts. The challenges will be for a year just like last time. I will host a link-up on my blog for you to link anything you’ve created for the theme. I hope you’ll join us for every challenge. Don’t over think them. Just have fun.
This month’s theme of “Junk Food” was my pick. After all the stress from my blog migration, and needing to get another injection in my wrist, I opted to go with a recipe. Sometimes you just need something sinful to snack on. Halloween is right around the corner so I wanted to make something that would work great for a Halloween party. So without further ado I give you Halloween Trash.
- 1 1/2 cups Cheerios
- 1 1/2 cups Rice Chex
- 1 1/2 cups Corn Chex
- 1 1/2 cups pretzels*
- 1 1/2 cups M&M's
- 1 cup peanuts
- 1 cup candy corn
- 18 oz almond bark
- Combine all ingredients except almond bark in a large bowl.
- Melt almond bark as directed on package and pour over mixture. Mix well by folding until well coated.
- Spread evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Keep in a cool place until it sets up.
- Break into pieces and store in an air-tight container or Ziploc bag.
*I used the square pretzels and snapped them in pieces after I measured them.
I removed the brown M&M's to keep it colorful.
I didn't want too much coating so I only used 18 ounces of almond bark but feel free to use more if you want a heavier coating.
Such a simple recipe that can be adapted with any of your favorite cereals or candies. My husband took this to work earlier this week and the guys loved it. They said it was a great combo of salty & sweet.
Next month our theme is Lazy Sunday Mornings. Now don’t get all panicky on us. Think about what a lazy Sunday morning means to you. What do you do? What do you eat? Create away.
To kick off this year’s challenge Stephanie and I are both having giveaways. You may enter my giveaway for a $25 Amazon gift card below. Then visit’s Stephanie’s Facebook page to enter her giveaway for some fun goodies. Good luck!
Now let’s head on over to Stephanie’s blog and see what she created. I can’t wait to see. Then come back and link-up your creations.
Inspiration Challenges are a collaboration between myself and Stephanie of Ellie’s Bite’s Decorated Cookies. There are twelve challenges in a year each with a unique theme. We challenge not only ourselves but you to come up with decorated cookies, cakes, cupcakes, recipes and crafts for each theme. A link-up will be hosted on my site for the duration of the month for you to share what you’ve created for the challenge. We hope that you’ll join in on the fun and can’t wait to see what you’ve created. Let your imagination guide you and inspire you.
