It’s time for week two of Simply Sweet Saturdays. This week I was all set to share a recipe with you but, as I prepared to make it on Friday, I saw that another blogger posted basically the same exact thing I was going to make. The ingredients varied slightly but it was the same concept. I guess great minds think alike.聽There went that idea. On to plan B. I was supposed to post these cookies earlier this week but I was feeling a little under the weather and didn’t get to make them until Friday. I wanted to do another submission for our New Year, New You Inspiration Challenge. I have only used fondant as accents on cookies but never used it to decorate the base of a cookie. This was my first attempt at it.
I started by rolling out my fondant & embossing it. I used an embossing folder from Cuttlebug that you can find at your local craft stores. {I have a post with information about embossing here. There is also a video where I show you the embossing folders that I have and how I use them.}
Your cookies look gorgeous. The bead border is so perfect I thought it was another fondant mold! I am definitely going to try this. If only to prove my dad wrong, lol.
Thank you for giving me the incentive to get a post done this week!
Thanks Stephanie. You are a dear friend 馃檪
I’ve been wanting to try fondant for awhile. I love how embossing easily creates a perfect pattern!
Thanks Janine! Give it a try 馃檪
So pretty! I have never worked with Fondant before…but I have a mold on the way to me now….so I guess I had better learn……now I know who to go to for help!
You got it 馃檪
Super cute! I also use fondant as accents but never to cover, but you can’t get that effect with glaze or royal icing so it’s nice that you can mix things up a little. I’m trying a new cake today that I will post {if it works}. Thanks!
I hope it works Kristen. I would love for you to link it 馃檪
Very pretty!! I am going to try my hand at working with fondant soon. I want to decorate my son and daughters birthday cakes this year!
That’s awesome Kim. I’ve only done one fondant cake & it was enough to make me not want to do it again. I think if it had been for family & not a paying customer I would have felt a lot better about it. I can’t wait to see what you do 馃檪
You did a lovely job on these!
I have yet to try fondant on cookies…I’ve done it on cakes…but after seeing your cookies, I really want to try it! Yours are beautiful!
Thanks for the comments on my blog as well!
It’s nice to get to know you!

Nice getting to know you too Melody. Definitely try the fondant on cookies 馃檪
I use fondant on cookies often. But where do I purchase impression mats that are small and ideal for cookies. Your cookies are beautiful
Thanks Lynn. I usually buy impression mats in craft stores that are meant for embossing cards. Well they’re not really mats but embossing folders. However, these aren’t exactly meant for food. Here’s a link to some reasonably priced ones. They may have what you’re looking for.
