Happy Thanksgiving

I wanted to do a quick post to tell you Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that you have a wonderful day. I'm thankful for each day that I wake up and get to enjoy the day. I'm thankful for my family, my husband and my dogs. I'm also thankful for the freedoms that I have and the great country that I live in. I'm thankful for these things each and every day but on a day like today it reminds me to appreciate them even more.

I'm visiting with my parents and having a great time. It seems like time just flies by and my vacation will be over very quickly. I have a craft show coming up the first weekend in December and I've been working like a busy bee getting things ready for it. I can't wait for things to calm down so that I can get back to cookies.

Here are a few road trip pics.
My girls Pepper & Zoe love road trips.
When traveling through south Texas there really isn't much scenery. This is what you see--fields and cows.

It may not be the best scenery but I love Texas. I wish I would win the lotto so I can buy land and live in the country. I miss country living.

Virtual Thanksgiving Potluck

I'm so excited because starting Friday of next week I will officially be on vacation. It has been quite some time since I had a whole week of vacation and I'm really looking forward to it. My husband and I will be going home to spend Thanksgiving with my parents. I'm looking forward to some rest & relaxation away from work and cookies.

This year is special because not only will I be spending time with my family but now through the world wide web I am spending time with my friends too. A few of my closest cookie friends and I got together for a virtual Thanksgiving potluck dinner. We all live in different parts of the country and have never met in person but we've become close through chatting online. We thought having a virtual get together would be a great way to share the holiday with each other. So we all signed up for our dish or dishes. Some of the gals made more than one dish. They are so sweet. I brought sweet potato casserole to the party. I made the casserole dish out of stacked cookies. I love how it came out! The top cookie is made using the large square frame cutter from Karen's cookies. They are wonderful cutters and I recommend that you get them all. You can find them here.

Look at all the wonderful food and flowers we have at our potluck!
Thanksgiving Menu:

1. Cornucopia -- The Sweet Shop Cookie Company

2. Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy & Project Name -- The Cookie Puzzle

8. Wine -- Sweet Treats by Ansa

It was fun getting together with you ladies. You all hold a special place in my heart. To those that made our dinner complete by making more than one dish I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You helped make this all come together so nicely.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. Take the time to stop and think of all the things you are thankful for this year. I may pop in with a post or two during my vacation but if not Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy creating!

Turning Leaves {A Fall Cake Challenge}

I was asked to be a part of a fall cake challenge by Kathia of Pink Little Cake and Melissa of The Baked Equation. These ladies are super talented cake artists so this was quite the honor for me. We could choose any of the following categories: creative cake, cupcake, sugar topper or recipe. I chose to make a creative cake because I don't get to make cakes that often and it would give me some practice. This is what I came up with.

This design was a happy accident. My original design was not going to work so I had to come up with plan B. Let's just say that I stare at this picture a lot. I put it on my screen at work. I am in love with this cake! It has it's flaws but to me it is perfect.

If you would like to see how the fall tree was made here is a video tutorial.
If you would like to purchase a tree cutter like the one I used you can find it at Plastics in Print here

Look at all the other designs in this challenge! They are amazing! This is why I love what I do. I get to meet so many talented artists. Please stop by everyone's pages and show them some love.

Thanks for stopping by! Tomorrow I will show you another fun project I was a part of.

Happy creating!
